John and LoriAnn Again

92mm 1/2000 f/4.5 ISO 640

SB600 hard, almost full power of to the right. The Sun graciously decided to pinch hit for me and lit them from behind since I only have one strobe.

  1. Inspiring work!

I tried using the sun, but at the wrong time of day, and I haven't done much with it since.

Besides your light quality, I'm also jealous of your sync speed! I'm stuck shooting at 1/200 most the time.

  2. I wasn't truly syncing that fast. But I was using the Auto FP Sync that can be done with CLS. It really reduces the effective power of the flash, but it keeps the whole exposure lit mostly even.
The flash is also really close to them. Like just, just out of the frame.

A fun example of FP Sync, if a bit over the top is http://www.joemcnally.com/blog/2008/05/19/david-of-the-desert/

The real fun though is watching the video so you can see the rig he used.
