Week 10

I realize it's been almost a month since I last posted anything.  Life has gotten to be kind of crazy and updating this was not my top priority.  But I've found myself with a few spare minutes in addition to an available computer for picture editing, so I decided to take a picture with the first thing I could think of - the chocolate chip cookies I had made!  (If anyone is interested in the recipe, I got it here.  They are quite delicious :)

Week 9

So I missed a week again.  I've had family in town and a sick daughter.

Week 7

I realize I missed last week.  Things were really busy and I didn't get to taking a picture.  I barely squeezed in getting one today.

Week 6

50 mm 1/80 f/2.5 ISO 2000

We have had some beautiful blossoms in the tree just outside our front door.  I thought the light on them at night from the lamp in the yard looked really pretty.  However, since it was so dark, I had to crank up the ISO and lower the f-stop so I could have a decent shutter speed to reduce any motion effect.

(I also used our Nikon D90 for this as well, there was no way our little Canon G9 was going to work with that little light).

52 Week Project - Week 1

I had been trying to come up with ideas as to what to do with this blog, and Tom suggested the idea of a 52 week project - taking one picture a week for a year and posting it.  I thought about it on and off and decided to give it a try.  My plan is to post one macro shot a week of something around our home or about our life that week.  I will schedule them to post every Friday.

Snow

A snow storm came through last night, so I decided to go and take some pictures of the snow.  I realize there's some movement in the pictures - it was windy and I wasn't using a tripod.

Garden

These are also pictures that I took nearly 3 years ago in my parents' garden

16.822 mm 1/200 f/3.5 ISO 80

18.89 mm 1/200 f/3.5 ISO 200

16.822 mm 1/80 f/3.5 ISO 80

18.89 mm 1/800 f/3.5 ISO 400

If anyone cares to know, I freehand all of this.  I don't know if I've ever tried to use a tripod with my macro shots.  So if the focus is a little off, that's why.  Also, I don't like bugs.  I had to not look at the bug pictures to closely while I edited them otherwise they would gross me out (particularly the one of the dragonfly).  I took the pictures because I thought they were both cool and disgusting at the same time.
